About Chinese Calligraphy Art
Chinese calligraphy is the art of writing Chinese symbols in beautiful ways. With Chinese calligraphy, every character is a different work of art because every person doing calligraphy writes differently. Chinese calligraphy Art started out as completely Chinese, but it has eventually spread throughout many oriental nations, including Japan, Vietnam, Korea, and Singapore. Thousands of American travelers have travelled to China and become engrossed in the beautiful formation of calligraphy.
History
Chinese calligraphy started out, obviously, in China, but as with many ancient art forms no one is even close to sure about how and when calligraphy started. There is one tentative estimate of when this type of calligraphy started, at about 4600 years ago, but this is not confirmed with any type of written record. The invention of the Chinese characters themselves, on which calligraphy is based, is said to have been invented by Tsung Jie, also known as the Yellow Emperor.
Art, Not Just Writing
It is important to know that Chinese calligraphy Artwork is not just writing Chinese letters – every person in the world has the ability to write Chinese symbols. Chinese calligraphy is considered to be art because within the way the characters are written lies expression of the artist’s intention. It is thought and known to express the moral integrity, emotions, character, and esthetic feeling of the person who is writing it. Another thing that makes Chinese calligraphy art is that it is drawn with a brush and ink instead of a pen or pencil, which makes it fluid-like and artistic just from the medium.
Learning Chinese Calligraphy
Learning Chinese calligraphy generally needs to start with beginning to learn both Chinese characters and learning to draw gracefully with a brush and ink. Without knowing anything about the Chinese language, you are simply copying, when knowing what you are drawing as art can help you understand the meaning behind the calligraphy. Many people start out mimicking, but it is more meaningful and satisfying to learn the language as you go along. There are many different tutorials and Chinese calligraphy courses you can either attend or buy to work from home if you are interested.
